Community small group
Well, we as a group picked Ozanam family shelter, they have need of people to bring food and prepare it all the time. We did that last sat. Jacob and Emily helped us also. It was OK,but you could tell that there was a general attitude of "thanks for the one time help, now you can go and feel like you did your good deed". I have to be honest, it wore me out...and that doesnt happen to easily. It was stressful all week, the shopping and prepareing for 60+ people. We didn't get but 2 days of school done. It wasnt to expensive...around 13$ PERperson in our group of 7....we are the only couple,so basically Todd got charged twice. And there was so much food wasted...I could not understand how people could throw away a plateful of food. We certainly do not do that at our house, and these people are supposed to be "hurting". It was not a bad thing for me to do this service, but I would not want to do it very often,as some in the group suggested should be done. I think it would be a good thing for people who dont have any immediate family that they are living with and supporting, but how can it be expected of someone in our situation? I dont make any money ,so Todd is supporting 5 people or more on occation and he has an average income. I was hoping for something that could be done more frequently, but this is not it.

One question in my mind currently, is it ok to spend time ministering in the community when our own unsaved family is being neglected? Why be kinder , more receptive and more giving of personal time to unsaved strangers than to the family we confess to love? I hope he writes "the purpose driven family" sometime soon,so we will take notice of the ones God gave us first.

I am so glad all of that's over....suck it demo's! Ha Ha. Seriously....wow, it was closer than I though it would be. Glad some people with "moral values" went out and voted. Have you heard the media? "what does "moral values" mean?" "this is not the America I thought I knew" America is in trouble if people start voting according to moral character." Some one called Dobson and asked him what "moral values" was code for? So now its some rightwing conspiratest(new word) code word for something...maybe someone should tell them to look it up in the dictionary. But I must say that at least Kerry didn't cry like a baby (Gore). It probably took awhile for him to comprehend how they lost when they had personally bused in several thousand unemployed and elderly people who were registered Democrats to every polling place, so that people who had jobs had to stand in line for hours or decided to come back later on to see the same people still in line at 5:55. Praise God for moral values!!!
