Poor Isaac
My baby even though immunized at age 1 has gotten the dreaded chicken pox. He says he feels fine "just ichy". I am sure with out the shot the pox would be much worse. The greatest concentration of them are in the crotch area and the soles of his feet. I remember having them, pretty badly but when I went to look it up on google,(because its been such a long time that I wanted to re-inform myself with the nature of the virus), that the pictures of some of the people were awful! They looked like lepers. I have never seen anyone look that bad. When we all got them as kids we were shipped off to grandma's. Me ,Laura and Jodi were all there at the same time, then Mike showed up as we were getting better. So if anyone wants to get the virus over with, your invited over to help scratch Isaac.

Basically most of last week was spent getting prepared for my challenge talk in any spare time I had. Up till the point of writing it this past week, was lots of prayer and I read or reread 4 books hoping to get some direction. It turned out well. God really used Todd and Beth to show me what needed to go,and what needed more and how what to change. I was really concerned about being forced to in effect water down God ,because the very first talk is not supposed to be real spiritual and full of scripture references. Some people who attend are not Christians or are hostile toward God,for many unknown reasons. So the point is to ease them into a challenging day on sat with out scaring them off that night. The title is set and it is "don't waste your life-God wants you.".......Anyway God has once again shown Himself faithful to me, the best comment I could have received was given" this is the most spiritual first talk I have ever heard, but it's great" and every one else found it acceptable the way is was with just a few minor tweaks. I can really see Gods blessing and His work on my feeble effort. He did something through me that I could not do. And gave me confirmation of the topic and the info in the talk was right in line with His plan for the weekend. God is so good to me.

I must vent...I thought we were going to see arena football, but it was more like going to a strip club minus the poles with a little football thrown here and there.I knew there would be cheerleaders but not 30+ of them and wearing little more than a bra and loincloth. It seemed like they would pause the game just so they could go out on the feild and dance(which occured several times not just during halftime, when I expected it.Not family friendly but if your a redneck with a sexual problem it would be right up your alley. God did spare us with giving us seating in front of the baby blues(pre-teens acting like their older mentors). The referees I think were paid buy the other team. Some very funny moments...Todd and Glynn were fighting over a t-shirt that was thrown into the crowd.Thinking it was a team shirt they struggled to be able to be the champ that got to hand it to their beautiful wife. Todd won(I think he shocked Glynn by his fierceness and it threw him off balance). He hands me the shirt with a big smile on his face and an obvious air of pride over the "victory". I was excited and open it immediately. It was an INFAMILE shirt and on the back it said "Back on top again". First off I breast feed all my babies and never had to buy that stuff,my motto about it is"breast is best"... and I am not to sure what "back on top again" really means! But it doesn't read to well for a man or woman to wear. HA HA
Next thing I get a phone call from the sitter so I got to the bathroom to talk to her(so I can hear). I am leaving and Todd is standing at the entrance,he tells me that he won the Rogers jewelry giveaway. Wow, cool! He said it was worth $200 dollars(I don't want jewelry but I am thinking we could sell it). So we go to the service center(which is swarmed by flesh(yeah, you would think that's where the cheerleaders would go during their brakes)). The guy write Todds name on the certificate and find out that its the one nobody claimed last time. We are walking away with the certificate...and read that its redeemable in the mall(we don't go to the mall for anything) and that its for a two-tone twisted snake bracelet and matching necklace. My guess is that they haven't been able to get rid of it even by giving it away. Sorry, I don't think you will be seeing it on me anytime to soon! jen at 4/19/2004 01:43:00 PM 0 comments
Good weekend
Friday, went well, Todd took a vacation day to help me with the yard sale. He had the idea that while we were marking prices and setting up ,too go ahead and set stuff out buy the road. See if we sell anything we don't have to restock in the garage that night. WE sold close to 100$. It was stressful but worth the money.
Saturday, we got up at 5:30 to get stuff out by 6,but we didn't have any early birds. It was nice to not be rushed. The Becks offered to get the kids and have them play on the trampoline until Jacobs soccer game( he scored a goal). It was never really busy. It is hard to guess a grand total,Todd was pocketing money the whole time. I guess around $350. We got rid of a lot of stuff, but we still have enough to have a new one and still have more than most yard sales. I was hoping there would be so little left that I could with good conscience sent the rest to good will. But as long as I have enough to make money for our family I will store it! jen at 4/19/2004 01:30:00 PM 0 comments easter or eatster?
Notice I didn't capitalize it! I hate the worldly easter party. It would be so great to get back to the celebration of Easter, the resurrection of our Lord! Todd and I decided to not do any thing eastery at our house and focus on the real reason to have joy. It was going well until at soccer practice they had an ("easter egg hunt") colored egg hunt. "ok" I thought no biggie, but made sure the kids knew to just call it an egg hunt. (am I getting cynical?) We went to church and out to eat then made resurrection cookies before going to bed. The kids got up and were happy saying "happy Easter" and they didn't have a single monetary gift from us. We watched "Matthew" on DVD for the 3rd time this week while food was cooking to be taken to family. Long story shortened...at Sue's we got more candy than CVS has in stock and for the rest of the day all I heard was" Can I have more candy? or can I have this candy? or when can we have more candy?" Aaaaaagggghhhhhhh! Betty gave them very little candy but got them school supply's. Ann and Danny gave them more candy and I am sure our neighbors will with all good intentions give them more. If people feel they have to spend money to give joy then give the cash equivalent and make the joy complete. Please...I would have much rather got a tattoo than 60$ worth of candy that will be pitched in the trash. Maybe the name should be changed to eatster!

So, Its the weekend, why do I look forward to the week more often? Yesterday was nice Todd was home, and we put together a glider rocker that we have had for-ev-er. Just kinda stayed outside doing stuff, and he went to garage sales with me in the morning,lots-o-brownie points! Now he is at a widows house helping to cut down and remove an old tree out of her yard. I went to Moutoux Park to meet with Gino about a "work day" out there. Its his birthday so I don't blame him for not going, but I didn't have a clue what to do, so I stood around for an hour and came home. Jacobs pictures and practice is at 12:30 so we will need to leave to go back over there soon.
Going to try my hand at making Resurrection cookies tonight with the kids, the premise is cool and the teaching will be remembered,I just hope in the morning when we go to eat them they will look like a an empty tomb and not a flat rock! jen at 4/10/2004 11:37:00 AM 0 comments busy
Monday, did school, made to do list.Did some laundry.Put the bed skirt on the underneth of the wood with velcro(so I could wash it easily). Then painted old dresser to be the new entertainment center for the kids big TV. Works great, all thier movies and PS+games fit in all the drawers. Mover book case and reoganised toys, games and books. Cleaned house for my husband and then fixed dinner. Next we wnet to church to play volleyball.
Tuesday, got up did school, then went to lowes to purchase stuff. Came home detailed the truck with my new shop-vac,then headed out to Mouduxe Park,to paint some lines on the soccor field(new part time job). Gino walked me though some of the requirements. Took the kids home made pb&j's for dinner went outside to mow as much as I could while I had daylight. Got inside and cleaned the house and did more laundry. Gave the kids a bath and put them into bed then took a shower, then sorted laundry. Wednesday, Got out side at 8:30 use vinylsiding cleaner on the back around the porch and on the plastic dining set and toy box,got it all clean. Moved the grill and took out all the lava rocks and cleaned it replaced them with grill brickquets(works much better). Finished mowing ours and the neighbors yard,weed-eated. Sprayed weeds in the sidewalk and driveway. Got cleaned up and went to Big lots to pick up some cheap patio stuff(lights umbrella table cloth) then went to buy-low to get food. Came home cleaned the house and fixed a steak meal and ate out on the newly cleaned and decorated patio. Good Times! jen at 4/08/2004 11:17:00 AM 0 comments Weekend
This weekend was fast. Why is it so cold...Yuck. And its deceiving,it looks wonderful until you step outside in a t-shirt.
I got asked to work as a bartender for David Yorks "Wild Turkey Hunters banquet" along with another girl. It was fun and I made a killing. It was a family event and the pork chops melted in my mouth. That's all I had time to eat,we were busy from 5:30 till 10:00. They can put away the free beer, and they were still all walking! Went to Sams and basically spent all I made on sat plus some. Last year I hit a tree stump with our mower and bent the shaft, so we needed to replace it. When we moved from our house on 9th street our TV was set unsecured on a box in the back of the moving van...anyway it worked even with the crack, but it emitted a loud high pitched buzz,we just dealt with it until we found a great deal on a new one. Now the kids get to enjoy the mind numbing squeal. jen at 4/05/2004 08:55:00 AM 0 comments Sorry
It's been awhile...I guess I have been too busy, but that will happen as summer gets closer. Nothing incredible to announce. Ready to get on with some house projects. I feel like my hands are tied waiting on the rain to stop and on Eric Dodd(Todds rich cousin in law)who has large implements of destruction for our back yard and driveway. I have accomplished a few minor things, but nothing that comes close to scratching the itch. Shooting for April 17th for a garage sale,if anyone wants to join,Angela gave some interest so it could just be her and I. I might even do a friday and sat if I find one other person to come along for the wild ride.
Side note: I now only work as a sub at Kipplees. Let the fun begin, and the spending end! jen at 4/01/2004 09:20:00 AM 0 comments
